Endpapers are an early 1900’s Map of South Carolina. This is an autobiographical account by the well-known writer and historian, who worked as editor of the State newspaper, first South Carolina Game Warden and founder of the South Carolina Wildlife Department. The father of the artist Carew Rice who provided the characteristic silhouetted illustrations. This is a signed limited edition, number 272, presented to an Scottish friend/ correspondent. A few instances of highlighting / annotations by the previous owner in the margins otherwise Near Fine. Quarter leather on blue cloth with gilt titles.
