Monograph on the design and building of cottages for the working classes. Smith was based in Albany Street, Edinburgh and undertook a number of building commissions, including the Union Bank headquarters in Glasgow. He was architect to the Edinburgh Improvement Commissioners in 1834, and won a competition sponsored by the Highland Society for the design of cottages for the ‘labouring classes.’
Original cloth with spine chipped frayed and worn, title label to front cover, priced at 4s. Half title cut and piece torn from title page (probably to remove ownership details). 9 fold out designs to rear with 4 plates of details 8pp of adverts to rear.
