Thomas Innes (1662-1744) wasa missionary priest, historian and archivist of the Scots College in Paris and researched and produced this substantial early historyof scotland, its monarchy and its people. First edition, in two volumes, rebound in modern quarter leather binding on brown oatmeal cloth with raised bands and gilt titles. With the signature of the Scottish conservationist and naturalist (Elizabeth) Jean Balfour to the front endpaper. Uneven fading to the leather of the spines. A few light marks to the pages but generally a VG set for its age. With the two folding genealogical tables as specified. Very scarce.
