Description
Collection of the tributes published (mainly in the press of the day) on the death of the editor of the Scotsman. Privately printed. With a gift inscription on the title page to James Dundas of Dundas, from ‘Mrs Russel’ presumably his widow Mrs Helen Evans (née Carter), one of the ‘Edinburgh Seven’ of influential female undergraduates whose campaign put the demands of women for a university education on the national political agenda, and eventually resulted in legislation to ensure that women could be licensed to practice medicine in 1876.
